Just As I Thought

When in doubt, blame Clinton

The like-minded site Morons.org reports that, like with any disaster, the right-wing idiots are crawling out of the woodwork trying to pin the recent shuttle disaster on Bill Clinton and environmentalists.

Lowell Ponte calls NASA a “socialist” institution and blames former President Bill Clinton for budget cuts at NASA, even though Republicans dominated the legislative branch during all but two of Clinton’s eight years in office and therefore decided the fate of any increase or “cut” in NASA’s budget. Mr. Ponte also ignores the fact that President Bush has been in office for more than two years (and Ponte still can’t get over Clinton), seemingly giving NASA more than enough time to have its budget “cuts” by Clinton corrected by Bush.

Our friend Joseph Farah, CEO of the far-right WorldNetDaily, decided to blame environmentalists for the Columbia disaster, noting with contempt that thermal tiles on the shuttle had been replaced to meet environmental specifications. Sadly, though, Mr. Farah failed to note that the tiles are no longer being examined as the cause of the breakup of the shuttle. But of course that won’t stop him from trying to manufacture some new way to blame his political enemies for the Columbia disaster.
In the next decade, when we have a national debt so large that 90% of government revenues go to funding it, will the right wing blame it on Bill “budget surplus” Clinton?
