Just As I Thought

I don’t know how to title this one.

The “Concerned Women for America” website is having a field day bashing gay people. A few tidbits, and my take on each:

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, which is working to force corporations to adopt such benefits for its homosexual employees, reportedly said that the costs were “prohibitively expensive.”

The homosexual newspaper Washington Blade reported that the Task Force slashed partner benefits in half, following a plea by its outgoing executive director, Lorri Jean, that the lovers’ benefits were too expensive to maintain during a budget crunch.

One of the key arguments used by NGLTF and other homosexual pressure groups is that extension of marital benefits to homosexuals will not cost companies much money.

OK. I think that there is a valid criticism in this article. the NGLTF has for years insisted that it’s good fiscal policy to include benefits for domestic partners on the grounds that it’s not any more expensive and it increases worker retention. Yet, they find it too expensive for their own office? Not good leadership there.
Also, newspapers cannot be homosexual. They are only paper.

“(P)eople with same-sex sexual behavior are at greater risk for psychiatric disorders.” (Journal of the American Medical Association report: Archives of General Psychiatry, 2001, based on the Netherlands Mental Health Survey and Incidence Study).

I can’t refute that claim, but did they look any deeper? Did they do a study on whether psychiatric disorders are the result of:

  • Rejection by society
  • Alienation from parents and community
  • Hatred spewing forth from organizations such as CWA
  • Frequent violence by intolerant, homophobic morons?

Compared to heterosexual men, men who engage in homosexual behavior are at increased risk of HIV infection, hepatitis, HPV and all other STDs, anal, prostate and colon cancers, eating disorders, depression and anxiety, and use alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs more often. (Gay and Lesbian Medical Association Web report issued last year)

That’s because when you are denied the basic human right to love whomever you wish, you must instead take any opportunity to feel the warmth of a human touch from any stranger on the street that you can find, no matter how dangerous the activity is. To make matters worse, internal discrimination in the gay community means that you are ostracized in gay circles if you do not fit a narrowly defined physical standard, thus the prevalence of eating disorders – the same as with teenage girls who are held to a ridiculous standard of beauty. As for depression, anxiety, and alcohol and drug use, I think it is a certainty that any group so radically discriminated against and violently treated will exhibit the same depressive behavior.

“[L]ife expectancy at age 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men. If the same pattern of mortality were to continue, we estimate that nearly half of gay and bisexual men currently aged 20 years will not reach their 65th birthday.” (Source:International Journal of Epidemiology, Oxford University)

Hardly surprising given the above statistics. I wonder how many of those men were brutally killed by bashers? I also wonder why the CWA is concerned about this – I would think that they would applaud the slow disappearance of the object of their obsession.
