Just As I Thought

Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb

So.
I found a picture of the back of the Roku thingy, and discovered that it has a set of component inputs–sweet! It can pass through a 1080i component source, so suddenly I don’t need another set of component inputs on the TV.
So.
Naturally, I set out to get one. I called Tweeter, they had none. I checked the Best Buy website, it claimed they had them in stock at my local. I called, they said yes.
Once I got there, I couldn’t find it. After rooting around in the back for what seemed like 15 minutes, the blue-shirted guy told me they had none, and there were none in the warehouse or in their other local stores. Despite the indications on the website and their inventory. Looks like they need to hire people who can count… or who don’t steal.
So.
While I was there, I decided to pick up some blank DVDs. They had the kind that were white on top, ready for printing, so I asked if they had any printers that print on blank DVDs. Nope. Gotta buy them through the website.
Makes one wonder why they spend so much money on huge, big box stores and minimum-wage dolts when they make you buy things online anyway.
So.
Swung by Office Depot for DVDs and a printer. They had neither.
So.
Decided to stop off and get something to eat. Called Outback Steakhouse from the car, figuring I’d do the take away thing. The automated attendant put me on hold and I was holding for — I kid you not — SEVEN minutes. I finally hung up.
So.
Decided to get a sandwich at the deli. But I didn’t want to put $5 on my credit card, so I walked over to the ATM. It was out of order.
So.
Here I sit on the couch again, having accomplished absolutely nothing… but surprisingly, I didn’t kill anyone in a murderous rage after my encounter with the dismal mercantile state I find us in tonight.

Here’s the deal with Best Buy. Their website only updates it’s distributuion inventory once every 24 hours… they tap into the store’s inventories even less than that. Ergo, never trust what their website says. I do know of another company however that updates in real time, but I’m biased.
    So.
What’s with the needing another 1080i input on your T.V.? One solution might be a decent A/V reciver with the now very common componet switching ability… but then again that would have to set you up for an audio system and I’m sure you’re getting sick of me spewing THAT your way.
Oh, and if you got an extra grand or so there is a Harmon Kardon that does HDMI/DVI multiple swiching, but that’s REALLY pushing it.
