Just As I Thought

A case of the scribbles

Well, some of you might have tried to visit this site earlier today only to discover some kind of “unreachable” message — Comcast has some trouble with numbers. I asked them to connect service at my new house on November 15, and to disconnect at the old house November 30, so I could ensure that everything is up and running at the new place before I move the server.
Somehow, they took that to mean “disconnect on November 8.”
It’s just now been reconnected.
Meanwhile, I arrived at my new house this morning to a shocking sight:

That’s my driveway. It looks for all the world as if someone vandalized my driveway overnight with a can of spraypaint or something. These scribbles are all over my driveway extending the length of the house. At first I thought it might have been from the chemicals used to spray for ants the other day, and I even had the exterminator stop by to take a look. But that’s not it. I puzzled over whether it could be snail tracks, but they are permanent. I thought that maybe it had been latent in the driveway until now and only showed up this morning because of rain last night. Nope, it was still there this afternoon after it had dried out:

I’m flabbergasted, puzzled, and more than a little bit royally pissed off at this. For a few days, I owned a beautiful faux-stone driveway. Today I have 60 feet of scribble.

  • Not just aliens, but alien ghosts in conjunction with the Rand corperation.

Really, I don’t think it’s vandalism, after all, why? And all 60 feet? Vandals would have done a gang sign or something.
If it really gets to you, a power washer should be able to get rid of it (and they’re really cool to use). You can rent one for about 50 bucks a day and get more than just the driveway while your at it.

  • Its the kids next door, momma wouldn’t let them play with magic markers in the house and told them to take it outside!

A heavy duty cleaner and a power washer should do it.
