I know how I feel about it: exactly the same as I did when Billy Connelly admitted he believed in "The Secret" after decrying organized religion for his whole career. She has every right to do with her music what she wants, but considering that her career has revolved around critiquing American commercialism, it seemed an odd choice. It was like Ralph Nader doing a car commercial.

Bessie,
If two people wish to marry and pledge their love and commitment to each other this is one of the greatest reflection of God's love.

I would like to quote The Rev. John Leland (1754-1841) "Guard against those men who make a great noise about religion, in choosing representatives. It is electioneering. If they knew the nature and worth of religion, they would not debauch it to such shameful purposes."

These "Christians" as you put it, follow only the rules they like, I believe that if they actually study the Bible and truly followed the teachings of Jesus, they would see how shamefully they are acting - to spew hate in the name the Creator this is Sacrilege! Remember what Jesus said "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22:37 40. When you deny love - you deny God.

Rick Santorum is not anti=gay. He said very openly that he would love his son the same the second after his son would tell him he is gay, so I find this a very open, honest response in a political arena where so many don't know how to be honest. The fact is many Christians who oppose homosexual behavior are also the SAME people who fight for their civil rights to be treated equally under laws. The marriage issues isn't about being anti-gay. If gays want to marry, they should, but it's illogical for them to try and present themseves as a husband and wife do. It's that's simple. We should never discriminate againt same sex couples, but rather love them and telll them the truth about God never mentioning same sex couples, but always referring to men and women. Who wants to challenge God? i don't.

I still use a stylus with my Toshiba Thrive, largely in conjunction with the Android-compatible Palm Pilot Graffiti Interface, which beats using those screen-based keyboards, hands down, if you will. (You failed to include a sample picture, here, for readers to see, by the way.)

* While current student debt should, perhaps, not be forgiven, the price for an education delivered by a UC or CSU should be returned to a price of next-to-nothing, the way things used to be. Acceptance to public universities in California should be merit based, ONLY, and not based on one's parents ability to pay. Governor Ronald Reagan was the bastard who began the process of removing public university cost burdens from the shoulders of California tax payers and placing those burdens squarely on California students. Public universities in California, starting with Cal Berkeley, which was originally established under Morrill, have been the great equalizers in this state, allowing students to become educated regardless of their ability to pay, and until Reagan, were wholly financed with money garnered from those most able to pay, who had gained the most, income-wise, here in the State of California, and thus, should be most obliged to shoulder those costs.

* When you were a child, primary care health insurance companies were required to be NOT-FOR-PROFIT. That has changed. As a result, health insurance companies are able to charge whatever the market will bear, without devoting most of that revenue to actual care. This allows an insurance company to funnel into the pockets of investor class members, large chunks of money that it extorts from patients, instead of paying for patient care. It also allows an insurance company to pay its high-level executives lotto-level salaries and bonuses. Insurance companies then also act as umbrellas, shielding care givers, and enabling them to charge much higher fees to cash paying customers than would be the case if primary care medical insurance companies were, once again, required to operate as non-profit organizations.

* The Obama stimulus plan would have been better and more effective, had it required that TARIFFS be imposed on goods and services imported from China and India, thus stimulating businesses to relocate production TO the United States, the way things used to be, before President Ronald Reagan signed MFN status with China into law. The Obama "stimulus" bill only stimulated retail level sales, which may have given Walmart a temporary boost, but after that, the money was instantly shunted to China and India, where the production of most goods and services has been relocated, because of the inducements of unfair, unfettered trade agreements.

* When a natural monopoly exists, like in cases where a single wire carries electricity, phone, or TV into one's house, or where one pipe carries natural gas into one's house, or where a limited number of electromagnetic frequencies are allocated to just a few mobile phone carriers, those services should be subject to reasonable price regulation by the PEOPLE who OWN those rights of way. Pathways through which electricity, natural gas, and communications flow, are part of our commonwealth. They are owned by WE THE PEOPLE. Thus, they ARE subject to OUR control. Companies that do not want to do business with WE THE PEOPLE can dissolve themselves and let others take their places.

* About drug prices: Medicare should be permitted to NEGOTIATE prices for drugs. Presently, Medicare is required to pay whatever retail price a drug company demands. Moreover, drugs made by American drug companies are sold at much lower prices in places like Canada. As such, it should be legal to repatriate those drugs to the United States, thus circumventing domestic price fixing by drug companies.

* About banks and fees: frankly, there should *NOT* have been a bankster bailout in 2008/2009, to begin with. Instead, FDIC should have done what FSLIC did with savings and loans in 1988/1989. FDIC should have taken control of banks, such as Bank of America, that had blown it. FDIC should have liquidated those banks. FDIC should have funded FDIC insured deposit accounts at FDIC insured banks that were subject to liquidation, allowing depositors access to THEIR MONEY that they had deposited into those failing banks. Then, guess what? Bank of America (which isn't really Bank of America, anymore, the way that AT&T is not AT&T, anymore), would have been liquidated, and the issue of debit card fees at Bank of America would never have been an issue in the first place.

Your world view seems a bit narrow – like a 1951 San Jose resident, if you ask me. You should consider going to SJSU (and paying its exorbitant fees) and obtain your MBA (assuming that you have an undergrad degree), so that you can widen your world view, a bit.
Of course they've gone too far (I say "they've" since I have not bought a t-shirt or purchased anything to wear that "celebrates" this tragedy) but, I've watched some TV programs. I did it because I feel like the time I spent viewing these programs was in honor of all the firefighters who died. I was a D.C. firefighter girlfriend and saw how hard they work and how dangerous their job is. So, I have a special place in my heart for FDNY and all other firefighters.

That said, the shameless promotion of this tragedy is something in which no one should participate. And besides, the right is using 9-11 to instill fear in all of us.
