I am a guy who rails against poor spelling… but I have never heard of the words that they’re throwing at the pre-teens at the National Spelling Bee — “rubasse”? What the…? I am both impressed and flabbergasted at these kids, who are not just remarkable when they get a word right, but just for being there in the first place.
I mean, I can’t even watch television without seeing typos and poor grammar in commercials; I just wish that there were more of these kids around to keep our language in check.
Unfortunately for the US, most of them are from India.
