Last week I posted about proposed Labor Department regulations that would eliminate overtime pay for a significant portion of the workforce. Today the Post reports that the department has received
more than 75,000 letters debating the merits of proposed overtime regulation changes that could affect more than 1 million Americans, the most mail the agency has received on any wage-and-hour topic in at least a decade.
As is almost always the case with our government these days, I’ll bet they go unheeded. Remember the FCC dropping media ownership rules last month? The FCC received record amounts of consumer comments, the vast majority opposing the new rules. But the FCC did it anyway.
Government of the people, by the people? Let’s see what happens in this case.
