Remember a while back when Congress, outraged by violence and sex on television, started making noises about requiring television ratings? The broadcasters, scared of this threat, voluntarily came up with a system.
Then, Congress mandated that sets made after such-and-such a year must be equipped with a “v-chip” to lock out violent programs.
Well, all this stuff is now in place. Has anything changed?
Now, I ask you, seriously: do you ever give a damn about the rating on a television program or use them to decide what you kids should watch?
What’s more, do you have even the slightest idea how to use the v-chip to restrict what your kids watch?
Thank goodness that Congress is watching out for us.
