There’s a great story in today’s Post about a successful idea that helps those in need: Womenade.
A group of six Washington area women transformed their annual potluck into what has become a small, informal and yet powerful force in changing the lives of the poor. They call it Womenade.
Come to a party. Bring a dish or a dessert and a check for $35. That’s it.
In Washington, the money goes into a Chevy Chase Bank checking account that buys dentures for that guy on the subway grate. Clothes. Grocery gift cards. Bus fare to a job interview. Insulin for a shelter that had run out. Security deposits. Rent. The electric bill.
Bravo!
