And while I seem to be on a TV thread today, can I just point out how silly it is these days to create a new cable network based around one theme? They’ve done it for years, only to find that there simply isn’t enough programming to fill a channel 24/7. Take a look at Court TV. They started out showing court cases, and now they fill their schedule with crime dramas. MTV, the first to fall, used to show music videos. Along with VH1, they finally gave up on videos and concentrated on regular programming. (I won’t even comment on the fact that Encore Love Stories is showing the movie “She-Devil.”)
And now, the Biography Channel seems to have discovered that it can’t run Biographies all day, and now is showing a bunch of syndicated fare like NewsRadio, L.A. Law, Murder, She Wrote, and Night Court.
Of course, it goes without saying that all of these cable channels carry the euphemistically titled “Paid Programming” overnight.
