The Smoking Gun points out a typo on a “Ground Zero” memorial — it states that the terrorist attack at the Pentagon took place on September 11, 2002.
The Port Authority is replacing the plaque with a correction. I wonder if they will take a moment to correct other errors, such as this one the people make incessantly: the first line of the plaque states that “A beautiful September day in the nation’s capitol turned to darkness.”
Washington, D.C. is the nation’s capital. The spelling “capitol” refers to a building. For example, “We visited the U.S. Capitol in the nation’s capital.”
