The Republicans — well, at least the right wing conservative owners of it — have found the secret to making nothing into something.
Despite all the evidence to the contrary, they proclaim:
- George Bush is a uniter, not a divider
- Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction
- Iraq was responsible for 9/11
- The economy is flourishing
- Marriage is under attack because more people want to get married
- Cutting taxes on the rich helps the middle class
- A record deficit is good fiscal policy
And today’s pronouncement from the bizarro world of Republicans: because 17% of the delegates to the convention are “people of color,” the party is touting themselves as inclusive and diverse.
Yeah. Seventeen percent. The Democrats had something like 30%, which I still think is dismal. So what do you think my opinion of 17% is?
Next we’ll be told that because they think 17% is great, they’re also the “optimistic” party.
