Sen. Mark Dayton’s (D, MN) grandfather, George Dayton, owned a dry goods store in Minneapolis that grew into the Target Corporation. Dayton personally paid for most of his 2000 Senate campaign and donates his Senate salary. He made headlines this week when he closed his Capitol Hill office until after the election.
