As I write this, I’m looking out of my office window to see literally thousands — if not millions — of ladybugs flying, swirling all around our office building. They’re whizzing by, sometimes stopping to crawl around on my windows, in some weird swarm.
Why is this happening today? Where did all these ladybugs come from?
Like my co-worker Jennie says, it’s better than cicadas.

On another site, I read that this ladybug swarms in the Fall as they search for places to hibernate for the Winter. Must be hibernation time in DC I feel like hibernating anyway.
They happened to be crawling over my office window in Michigan during these past two days as well.
They’re from Asia and a recent phenomena (past few years) in most of the country. I’ve heard them called ‘halloween ladybugs’ before because they appear around this time of year.
