Frank Meeks, who owned the Domino’s pizza franchise here in the Washington metro area, has died.
Meeks got a lot of praise as the best Domino’s owner in the country, but his politics (and crappy pizza) means that I avoided his stores.
Meeks was a devout Republican, worked for Trent Lott, and gave huge amounts of money to conservative causes, especially anti-gay organizations.
That’s why I find his death interesting. He died of complications of pneumonia at 48. He leaves behind no wife or family, just a mother and brother.
Over the last decade, people have learned to read between the lines. What does a relatively young single man dying of “complications” of pneumonia say to you?
