Just As I Thought

Tyranny of the few, part deux

It’s not at all surprising anymore:

JUST nine complaints of indecency to the FCC have sparked the federal investigation into NBC’s telecast of the 2004 Summer Olympics.

A commission official confirmed yesterday that an investigation of the popular sports telecast was under way but declined to specify which part of the multiweek broadcast was in question.

The opening ceremony garnered 56 million viewers. 9 complained. 55,999,991 viewers evidently felt okay with it. But in this bizarre, fundamentalist environment we find ourselves in, a statistically zero segment of the population can dictate what the statistically 100% majority can see.
Doesn’t this sound like the kind of “political correctness” the conservatives have been fighting for years?
