Holy crap.
As you know, I’ve been complaining (and alternately rejoicing) about the huge increases in property values around here. It’s making me giddy, thinking about this incredible nest egg — on paper, anyway — that is my house; but it’s making me fretful to realize that I can’t afford my home.
Today that realization came very close to fruition. Because of the increase in value, hence increased taxes, my new monthly mortgage amount has risen by more than $120. A month.
I am now officially over the maximum percentage of salary-to-housing costs that mortgage lenders allow. I guess the time has come to really economize. I’m not sure where to start, though. Telephone? $30. Satellite TV? $50. Cell phone? $50. Internet? $60. I guess I could get rid of the telephone, although my mobile doesn’t work in the house. I can’t get rid of the mobile, because I need it for work, etc. TV? Heh. Funny. Internet? Gotta have it for work.
Looks like it’ll have to be food, then.
At least my priorities are correct, eh?
You could back off on you ‘at least one new iPod per week’ budget.
This really has nothing to do with the subject (well maybe it does) but my e-mail’s down and I thought you and your hippie, liberal brethren would like this site- http://www.freecycle.org/
…one more thing- I typed in the common, sideways smiley face and wound up with ‘yahoo’ kind of “real” smiley face that I can’t stand. All I have to say about that is 🙁
But iPods are all I have to eat now!
Ah yes, the “Who the hell can afford to eat diet”. Been on that one many times.
