I’ve never linked to a naughty, adult site here before; but hey, I don’t think there are little kids reading my blog and I’d far rather that people look at nekkid pics than violent pics. That said, the links in this entry go directly to “adult images.”
Anyway. There’s a sober journalistic reason — my continuing battle with hyprocrisy in all forms. Today, we point out the kind of ridiculous hypocrisy inherent in gay men’s personals ads.
There is a lot to choose from, starting with the ones who claim to be “straight” but their girlfriend is out of town, and you know, a guy has needs. Could someone explain where it is that all these girlfriends are travelling to?
Anyway. The one I’m picking for a little ridicule is this one. In his second sentence, he says:
Not into the gay scene here.
Then, only a few sentences later he launches into a segment about Tom of Finland. How many of you straight folks out there have a clue who Tom of Finland is? Meanwhile, his ad is filled with nude photos of himself… which leads us to the real revelation about this guy who’s not in the “gay scene.”
He is — or was — a gay porn star by the name of Paul Coder. Check out his list of porn credits.
I guess what makes it clear that he’s “not into the gay scene” is his confession:
I was not comfortable doing it and clearly did it for financial reasons.
Can I just say that whenever I’ve met someone who claims to not be “into” a “scene,” they’re usually not into it, they’re obsessed by it.
Now I feel a little snotty and obnoxious for posting that, like some whiny ass who never gets laid. I dunno, I just sometimes laugh so hard at the way so many gay guys choose to market themselves — and that’s what it is, a market — that the pressure increased and it all builds up and I just explode.
See? That’s another example of how to write in order to market yourself to a gay demographic.
