Brevity doesn’t sell commercials

I’m watching a tsunami documentary on Discovery channel — titled “America’s Tsunami: Are We Next?”, it actually has almost nothing to do with America. Rather, it’s about a scientific expedition to the scene of last year’s earthquake and tsunami in the Indian Ocean.
It seems like the producers only commissioned 4 or 5 different CGI sequences for this two-hour documentary, and only halfway into it, I’ve seen the same sequences a dozen times. The show keeps retreading, going back, using the same graphics over and over so many times that they have completely lost any impact. Frankly, one hour into it I’ve already seen about 15 minutes I could have edited out.
