Sometimes there are things in this world that just beggar explanation — like the story of the whale that swam up the Thames river, where sadly, today it died.
People took notice of this rare event, watching the whale swim around… then they grew concerned, and finally a large number of people worked to try to save the whale and return it to deep water. They did not succeed, the visiting whale grew sicker through the day and sadly, finally died when it was hoisted onto a barge for the journey back to the ocean.
There was a lot of compassion on display in the last day.
So, why don’t we show that kind of compassion toward other humans?
