Just As I Thought

I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter

As I lay in bed, half asleep
A visitor crept in, and took a peep
Hidden from view for quite a while
Its sudden appearance made me smile

But quick as a wink, as I leapt from bed
The clouds outside began to spread
I ran through the house, threw up the sash
And my short-lived happiness began to crash

The sun was gone after a short short stay
The clouds rolled back, angry and gray
But off in the distance, it looks quite clear
Later today, we may yet have cheer.
