Maybe I’m stretching, but I think that this is an example of what’s wrong with our over-sued society:
I just saw an underwriter commercial on PBS for an insurance company. The gist of the commercial was that there was a banana peel on the sidewalk, and the insurance guy, seeing it, places warning cones around it. Amusing, yes. Message received: they’ll warn us of possible hazards.
But the only thing I could think was this: why didn’t he just pick it up and throw it in the garbage can? No need to warn anyone, the hazard is just completely gone.
Sigh.
