Is this thing on?

This is what my house looks like this afternoon. I like the happy stripes, it makes me imagine that instead of deadly gas inside, there is actually a few clowns and maybe an elephant.

Which is more of a sign of permanence: the lease that I signed on this house, or the four tropical plants I just planted in pots on my patio?
