As a follow-up to my Wal-Mart screed, here’s an interesting article looking at Costco and other companies that have concentrated on higher wages and better treatment of the lowest strata of their employee base… and how that translates to higher profits – and fewer government subsidies such as food stamps, unlike Wal-Mart.
