I wonder wonder why the wonder fell

Via Thom the news comes: Wonderfalls is already cancelled.
It was only a few days ago that I speculated on the probability of this happening, but I never dreamed it would come after only 4 episodes.
The announcement from the series’ producer:
Well, not sure what to tell ya’ll — but we’re cancelled. Effective at once. The cow creamer will be silent this Thursday and forever forward.
Once we recover from the not-shock, Todd, Bryan and I will see if there’s some venue in which to air the remaining episodes. As I have said from the start, the thirteen taken as a whole tell a story and go to a place, so a run of this “limited” series would not be unsatisfying elsewhere. It’s a question as to whether the studio will want to invest in a DVD release of a failed series. Maybe the episodes will sit in a warehouse someplace with that sled and the arc of the covenant.
I’m astonished, bewildered, and yet strangely not surprised.
Wonderfalls garnered incredible reviews, even from other countries that haven’t even aired it. In the pit of idiocy that is Fox, a decision was made last week to move it to compete with the number one show, that crappy piece of crappity crap “The Apprentice.” When it mysteriously didn’t win it’s time slot, the monkeys in suits obviously couldn’t deal.
Add outraged to my list of current emotions.
There’s simply not a single reason to watch Fox anymore — and The Simpsons, which is simply not consistently as good as it once was, will appear in syndication ad nauseum, so why bother?
Man, I’m pissed.
Really, really, really pissed.
(Just as another patented Aside™, the Fox website still lists these upcoming episodes — like Futurama, we fans will have more Lost Episodes to pine over… strangely, although the show was moved to Thursday, and appears on that day on their calendar, the show description says Friday.)

“MUFFIN BUFFALO” ON
“WONDERFALLS” THURSDAY, APRIL 15, ON FOX
Jaye has always been fascinated with her trailer park neighbor; the notorious and obese “Fat Pat.” Pat was rarely seen in public, but he is losing weight, and Jaye finds herself befriending him. But Jaye’s friendship with Pat backfires in an unexpected way. To Jaye’s amazement, she deals with all of this on her own without the animals’ prodding. The animals are not silent, however, for they’ve been instructing Jaye to withhold the disability checks of another neighbor, Mrs. Beattle, for some reason. See how Pat’s and Mrs. Beattle’s lives change because of Jaye’s involvement.
