They should know about election aftermaths

Both Bush and Cheney — most recently in tonight’s debate — claim that the mere scheduling of an election is proof of success in Afghanistan and Iraq. As if the day after the election, they’ll suddenly be living in a peaceful, democratic country.
If the mere holding of an election is their barometer of success, well, they really are the champions of low expectations.
