Just As I Thought

Teeny Tiny Slimy Creepy Crawly

Well, I think I know when snails have sex.
Ever since I moved to California, I’ve been fascinated watching all the snails out on the sidewalk in the morning. But this morning as I walked the dog, I noted something new: baby snails. All over the place, it looks like the normal snails with their large shells have been struck by some kind of de-bigulator, with tiny miniature snails poking their miniscule eye stalks out of microscopic shells. I’m a sentimental animal lover, and when I walk the dog I am always looking down so that I don’t step on the snails and potato bugs; this morning I started to gently pick up the tiny baby snails and move them to the grass so they wouldn’t be crushed by pedestrians.
I don’t know what damage snails do to crops and landscaping, but like most other species, their babies are just too darn cute.
