Just As I Thought

Land of the free, home of the stupid

It seems that more and more often, when I read the news, I’m convinced that we live in a country absolutely chock full of morons who can’t seem to be bothered with cognitive thought; who can’t project themselves more than 5 minutes into the future and plan accordingly.
I’m talking about brainless fools who, only a few years after Katrina and the resulting news footage of water, death, destruction, and people stranded on rooftops, decided to stay at home when Ike came calling. And it’s not just Katrina years ago that was the warning. Even their short-term memory is faulty. Didn’t we just have a big hurricane scare a week or so ago on the Gulf Coast? Golly, I can’t remember, that was so long ago.
So now we see once again. Stupid people clinging to roofs, horribly inadequate parents keeping their children in harm’s way, all after they were given stark, life-or-death warnings.
Perhaps they think Anderson Cooper will visit them and they’ll get the fame and fortune that playing scratch-off lottery tickets hasn’t brought them.
