Remember the big tax cut the Bush administration handed to the rich and to large corporations? Remember how it was supposed to bring us out of this recession? Remember when we had a huge surplus?
Now, the Washington Post is reporting that Bush has eliminated part of a pay raise for Federal workers because it would “interfere with our nation’s ability to pursue the war on terrorism.”
Huh?
Wiping out the surplus, enabling companies to avoid paying taxes entirely by reincorporating in Bermuda, and doing away with estate taxes are certainly a better way to increase revenue.
We know, of course, that the Bush administration wants to fire all these Federal workers anyway, and replace them with corporate contractors from companies in bed with the administration.
Bobby L. Harnage Sr., president of the American Federation of Government Employees, the largest federal employees union, described Bush’s relations with the federal workforce as “two notches below poor,” and he called Bush’s announcement “just another shot across the bow.”
Why in the world aren’t we all out in the streets protesting this man? Why isn’t the “liberal media” screaming about his unbelievable policies? Why do I feel like I want to live on another planet?
