It’s begun: the annual panic attack caused by the hint of snow in Washington, DC. By all forecasts, we’re expecting 4-6 inches of snow tonight, and the usual frenzy at grocery stores has begun. Why do people rush out for bread, milk, and toilet paper only hours before a snow storm? Are they so lacking in their household necessities? Are they living from sheet to sheet in their bathrooms? Are they afraid they won’t be able to get out of their house because of the 12 feet of snow blocking the front door? Right now on the news, they’re showing the long lines at checkout counters at the grocery store, with people buying 96 cans of Pepsi (that’s equal to 17,280 calories, by the way, with no nutrition), a case of toilet paper, a dozen loaves of bread… people are just silly. We live in a society that has so much – much more than we could ever need – so why do they feel like they will suddenly be without?
While you digest the sarcasm in that one, take a look at my live camera, mounted on the back of my house. Is it snowing yet?
