I just got my first paycheck of the new year. With those tax cuts rammed through Congress last year, I had a whopping $2.60 less in taxes withheld. I think that’s a savings of about one seventh of one percent. Mr. Bush is right – we middle class people are really seeing a benefit here and that $2.60 will really help stimulate the economy – think of how many jobs will be created! It will be quite a boon — it means that I can now buy almost a complete McDonald’s breakfast meal. Almost.
It’s a good thing I’m not one of those people in the wealthiest top 1%. I’d probably have to pay my accountant more to deal with the increased cash.
