Recently I’ve noticed a marked increase in the product placement in TLC’s “Trading Spaces.” The participant’s shirt sleeves now carry corporate logos (in the episode I’m watching, the shirts have the logo of Lowe’s home improvement stores) and even the cleaning supplies get a plug – evidently they clean the floors with the Swiffer Wet Jet system.
I’ve watched “Changing Rooms” for years, and have yet to see a product plug on that program. Evidently it’s the American way to insert advertising at every opportunity.
