I don’t care if he is a delegator or a busy man. Bush has pushed this country into a war – which I don’t necessarily question as much as I question the WAY he pushed it – which he seems to now have little interest in. From the Washington Post:
Bush’s aides, contending he is setting an example for the country by hewing to his routines, said he was not wakened to be told of the first casualties in the war, reported by networks and news services at 10 p.m. Thursday. An official said Bush was told yesterday during the 6 a.m. phone call in which national security adviser Condoleezza Rice updates him on overnight developments.
A senior administration official said that while working on a war speech on the flight back from last weekend’s summit in the Azores, Bush took a break to watch “Conspiracy Theory,” the Mel Gibson movie.
Bush has told visitors he is sleeping well and exercising regularly. And the official said Bush has given up desserts to try to bring down his running time. “In these type of times, he becomes even more disciplined than usual,” the official said.
I’m disgusted by this man. He has sent our young people to war to fight and die, but he can’t be bothered with the news of their death. His choice of movies is interesting. And his biggest sacrifice in wartime is giving up desserts. I am livid at this “compassionate conservative.” Every day I have more and more contempt for this man. His disregard for all the lives involved in this war is horrifying.
Marine Sgt. Kendall Waters-Bey was 29 years old. He leaves behind a wife and a 10-year-old son.
He also the older brother to four sisters.
On Friday, his family and neighbors in northeast Baltimore shared their grief.
Waters-Bey’s father held up a picture of his son. “I want President Bush to get a good look at this,” Michael Waters said. [WRC-TV]
Not likely. He’s up at Camp David jogging on the treadmill.
Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley said he’s “deeply saddened” by the death of a Marine who was a native of the city.
The mayor ordered city flags to fly at half-staff to honor of Waters-bey.
As far as I know, the president has not asked for flags to fly at half-staff for any of the war casualties.
Although Bush remained largely out of view, senior members of the administration and department spokesmen sought to emphasize disarray in the Iraqi leadership and U.S. interest in the welfare of Iraqi civilians.
Hell, we see Saddam Hussein more than our own president. Which leadership is in disarray?
