Just As I Thought

America’s weapon of choice

I won’t get too much into this subject, because it’s one that is so divisive that people lose all perspective. Anyway. The assault weapons ban is about to expire, and according to the Post, Tom DeLay is not planning on allowing it to come to the floor for reauthorization. Not surprising, really. What is surprising is that Bush supports the ban. I can only assume that, as a rancher, he realizes that it’s not necessary to use an Uzi or AK47 when protecting the homestead from coyotes.
What’s even more shocking is this little quote. Remember that the speaker is talking about high-powered assault weapons that pump out death at an incredibly rapid rate:

In a letter to Bush, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) said: “It is now time for us to stand up against the unconstitutional gun-grabbing and help our nation in this time of great need by allowing law-abiding citizens to use the weapon of their choice.”
