Just as they tried every possible tack in justifying the war, the White House is now using the same strategy to try to end the controversy over Bush’s nuclear remarks. Now Stephen Hadley, the deputy security adviser, has stepped forward to take the blame. Again, Bush expressed confidence in him, and there is no expected resignation.
My question is this: what kind of man is Bush if he continually trots out underlings to take the blame, but doesn’t take any responsibility himself? There’s no good outcome to this for him: if he continues to not take any responsibility, he is a poor President. If he does, he’s either a liar or he’s got poor knowledge of what he’s saying.
