I’ve been a little frustrated with the poor Airport (wifi) reception on my Powerbook when sitting downstairs in the living room. Even though I’m only about 30 feet from the base station (albeit separated by a rather flimsy floor and ceiling with wood joists), I can get at most 2 bars of signal strength. Sometimes it drops out completely. So, I picked up an external antenna for the basestation, which claims to extend the range up to 250 feet.
Well, here I sit in the living room with two bars. And when I took the Powerbook upstairs to the basestation and sat the antenna right up against it, I still only got 3 bars.
I think Apple needs to get back to the drawing board on the Powerbook’s wifi antennas. The iBook never had this problem!
Just a little complaint. You know how I am.
