Just As I Thought

More Tales of the Wal-Mart

I wonder what happened to that story about the woman who was trampled at Wal-Mart last month? You know, the one who turned out to be a “serial faller?”
Well, never fear — there is a never-ending supply of toothless morons who shop at the altar of low prices and lowest common denominators. Read on.

Matthew Baures loves Christmas, but he learned the hard way that there is very little holiday cheer while waiting in line at a Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve.

The 22-year-old Berwyn man was pummeled with a baseball bat and beaten by as many as four people after a dispute over a place in line at a Forest Park Wal-Mart.

“I couldn’t believe someone would actually do this on Christmas Eve,” Baures said Thursday as he nursed a bruised eye and aching tailbone and ribs.

Although a crowd formed, no one came to their aid, Baures said. But someone did provide police with the license plate number of a light-colored Cadillac in which some of the men fled. Others left in a different car.

Baures said Wal-Mart security did little to either calm the situation in the store or break up the fight in the parking lot. No one answered the store’s phone on Thursday.

  • Hello Matt here,

Thank you for posting the story you got from the Chicago Sun Times written by Dave Newbart..
    ” And I am not a toothless moron “

  • I should clarify – the “toothless moron” remark was directed at the assholes who can’t seem to manage simple aspects of civilization, such as standing patiently in a line without taking out their pointless aggression on those around them with a baseball bat.

  • No problem, I was just joking, but still it is great you took the time to add this story to your site.. the whole reason I spoke to the press was to let people know that this happend on x-mas eve … also at the time I spoke to the press the Men were still not to be found.. I wanted that family to know that they did somthing wrong and everyone is going to know about it. I now await JUSTICE !!!!

  • I’d be interested to hear how — or if — this story resolves. What will be the consequences for the attackers? Will Wal-Mart bear any culpability… indeed, will they have anything to say about the incident?
Keep us up to date, will you?

Meanwhile, another Wal-Mart story: on the same day as the beating of Matt, two employees of the store in Bellevue, Nebraska repeatedly rammed shopping carts into a police cruiser in the parking lot. They were arrested and fired.
“Sharon Weber, a spokeswoman for Wal-Mart, said the company does not tolerate such behavior.
In her eight years with Wal-Mart, Weber said she had heard of no similar incidents.”
I guess that they don’t mind the kind of behavior where a human being is being hurt. But watch out if you want to damage a car. [Found at ]http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg=1636&u_sid=958441]
