Yesterday, I put a few crackers and a bowl of water in my fireplace to entice the squirrel out. This morning, he’d eaten the crackers, but was staying put up in the flue. So, I put a few more out.
Today when I got home, he’d once again eaten the crackers. So, he’s obviously coming out when I’m not around, and then going right back up. Now I’ve left a few crackers again and opened the fireplace doors and the patio doors, giving a clear path to the backyard. Hopefully he’ll get the idea and take the easy way out.
Of course opening the door may attract the neighborhood possum.
