Thursday, February 19, 2004; Page A22It is unbelievable that the White House gets away with calling the president’s trip to the Daytona 500 “non-political,” exempting it from being charged to his reelection campaign [“Gentlemen, Start Your Campaigns,” front page, Feb. 16].
As a taxpayer, I would be outraged regardless of which party held the office of president. But it is even more irritating in light of the enormous campaign treasury the president has.
