Just As I Thought

Too much definition

On Sunday, I watched the Academy Awards which were broadcast in high definition for the second time. (Last year I taped the first-ever HD broadcast, thinking it would be an interesting “first”, instead it was relatively boring and I’ve never watched it again. Perhaps I’ll pop in the tape in a few years and chuckle.)
What amazed me was how awful some of the celebrities looked in super-clear resolution. Granted, I don’t ever want an HD camera focused on me either, but I don’t have an army doing my make-up and fashion, do I?
Phillip Swan, who is himself a cutie, maintains a list of who looks better or worse in high definition. My suggestion for his list: Angelina Jolie, who’s skin looked like it was sticky, with her large and unattractive tattoos showcased by her dress.
There’s something to be said for the low-resolution, forgiving medium of television technology invented in the 1920s.
