You know, I can’t figure out what the big deal is about Kerry’s characterization of the Republicans as a “crooked, lying group.” Everyone seems to be up in arms about him saying it, but no one is denying the facts of the statement. And as Mac and NPR point out, such lapses in commentary didn’t seem to hurt Dubya when he called a New York Times reporter an “asshole” in front of an open mic. This is issue #72 on the hypocrite list. (Well, perhaps it did hurt him — after all, he lost the popular vote, remember?)
Frankly, I think that Kerry should utter such tame comments deliberately in front of an audience. The current group in power are crooked and liars. It’s about time someone said it.
