Congress saw more photos yesterday of prison abuses in Iraq. By some accounts, there were over a thousand images. There certainly were hundreds.
Here’s my question: if a few renegade soldiers were responsible, should it be assumed that they had such incredible autonomy — with no oversight from commanders — that they could do these things and take hundreds of pictures? Or were they ordered to do these things and take photos for use later by intelligence (there’s an oxymoron) services?
Either way, it seems to me that this is going to go much higher up the chain of command.
And as much as I want these new photos to make it to the public, if only to further damage this pitiful excuse for a presidency, I know that it would only serve to humiliate and inflame the Arab world even more — how much more can they hate us?
