I certainly never listen to or watch the various yakking asses on radio or television these days, especially the right wing nut cases. And here’s a good reason why.
Evidently Sean Hannity aired the audio from Nick Berg’s horrifying beheading yesterday. From the New York Post (where, in an inadvertant comment on the whole disgusting business, it was published in the entertainment section):
The 33-second audio clip contained at least nine blood-chilling screams from Berg, heard over continuous terrorist chanting.
His final scream appeared to end with a gurgling sound.
“I think people need to know what we’re dealing with – it’s evil right before your eyes,” said Hannity, the Fox News Channel personality whose syndicated radio show is based at WABC (770 AM).
… WABC and its owner, Disney/ABC, got “very few complaints” after Hannity and another program aired audio of Berg’s death, according to station exec Phil Boyce.
“Only a few left-wing wackos got through to me, and most of them had no problem displaying the Iraqi prisoners getting abused,” Boyce said.
“That is an interesting double standard.”
Hannity said he wouldn’t show the video in full on his FNC show, “Hannity & Colmes.”
“On TV, kids could look at it,” he said.
Good thing kids don’t have radios.
I’m sick to my stomach.
And this makes me positively want to throw up:
Two disc jockeys were fired after playing an audiotape of the beheading of American Nick Berg by Iraqi militants, and cracking jokes about the grisly death.
Listeners called the radio station to complain after hearing Berg’s bloodcurdling screams in the broadcast of the tape, followed by the DJs laughing and playing musical accompaniments.
The DJs, known as Marconi and Tiny, were fired Thursday from their morning show perch at Portland’s KNRK-FM, which is owned by Pennsylvania-based Entercom Communications Corp. Station employees would not release the legal names of the DJs.
I feel like I am living in some surreal world. This can’t all be real. It just can’t.
