The Boycott Gillette site claims that the razor company is not only embedding RFID chips in its products, but is actually taking photographs of customers when they pick up a package. One reason for this is evidently to cut down on theft. But considering that every store I go into keeps the Gillette blades behind a counter somewhere, this seems to be overkill.
Perhaps if Gillette wants to cut down on theft, they should stop gouging people with their ridiculously high prices. They subscribe to the same bait-and-switch tactics as ink-jet printer companies: the price of the consumables is often more than that of the mechanism they’re used in. I mean, come on — $14 for a package of razor blades?
