Ooops! Pop star Britney Spears did it again and got married for the second time this year — this time to dancer Kevin Federline in a private ceremony in Studio City, California, “Access Hollywood” reported on Sunday.
Spears, 22, and Federline, 26, surprised their parents with the unexpected ceremony, which took place in a private residence, according to a publicist for the syndicated entertainment news program.
Yeah, straight marriage is so very worthy of special protections.
Meanwhile, in another bizarre nod to the importance of “religion,” Madonna — sorry, Ester — is up to some new publicity stunts:
Madonna made a midnight pilgrimage to a Jerusalem cemetery early yesterday, holding a mystical candlelit ceremony at the grave of a Jewish sage.
The pop singer is in Israel on a five-day spiritual quest along with 2000 other students of Kabbalah, or Jewish mysticism.
… Madonna was raised a Roman Catholic, but she has become an avid devotee of Kabbalah in recent years. She has adopted the Hebrew name Esther, wears a red thread on her wrist to ward off the evil eye, and reportedly refuses to perform on the Jewish Sabbath.
Israeli media reported that Madonna had also requested kosher meals.
