1948 was the election that is represented by the iconic image of the “Dewey Defeats Truman” newspaper headline and the unexpected victory of Harry Truman. While working on an election issue of the magazine I design, I came across this artifact from the National Archives, which — more than the newspaper headline — seems more apropos of tomorrow’s event.
