Just As I Thought

… and some Valium, too

I swear, I am going to be on the brink of an aneurysm for the next 4 years, so help me.
Driving in the car just now, I heard the victory speech from Cheney and Bush, and was screaming at the radio.
Dick Cheney actually said that the campaign was uplifting and that Bush presented a message of hope and optimism. He insisted that they had a mandate, even though 49% of the American electorate voted against the Bush/Cheney ticket. Hardly a mandate, except in their strange spin zone.
That clinches it. These people are from bizarro world.
Cheney also made the dubious claim that more people voted for Bush than for any other president in history. This is like those network news promos that claim more viewers than other networks: it’s technically accurate, because more people voted this year than ever have before.
But it also makes the reverse spin true, and this is what I will be clinging to:
More people voted against Bush than have voted against any other president in history.

Next time, fellow progressives, it’s all out war. We’re going to have to stoop to their level, use their dirty tactics, and take no prisoners. We’re going to have to learn not to be honorable.

  • While Bush does hold the honor of being the President most voted against, I’d like to point out that Senator Kerry holds the distinction of having EVEN MORE people vote against him.
