Ha!
You know those Subway commercials that trash McDonald’s by trotting out a guy who used to be really fat and is now… well, just kind of thick?
It turns out that the Chicken Teriyaki sandwich they’ve been flogging is REALLY bad for you:
In the TV spots Subway spokesman Jared says three footlong Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki subs have less fat than one Big Mac.
“Who else but Subway really cares that you live a long and healthy life?” the commercial asks.
Ken Boehm, of the NLPC, says the commercial omits relevant facts.
Namely: Those same three footlong sandwiches contain more than three and a half times as many calories as one Big Mac. Ditto on cholestorol. They have six times the sodium, seven times the carbohydrates and 14 times as much sugar, he said.
“When you look at these other factors, the Subway sandwich is much worse, it’s not even close,” Boehm said. “When you start to make health claims and leave out certain critical details, that’s when the FTC gets concerned,” he added.
The only thing I’ll say about Subway is as a manager with a restaurant background I applied for and was granted a Subway franchise and I entered into an 8 week training program to take over a Subway. I gave them my two week notice one week into the program. I stated I could not and would not work with a company that had no morals. They said what do you mean “Morals”? I replied my point exactly, you don’t even know the meaning of the word.
