Oy. I’m off to Kansas City for one night — business, dontcha know — but you’d think I was going to Mongolia.
I was up at 3am so I could get my morning ablutions done. It’ll take me about an hour to get to the airport up in Baltimore, gotta be there at least 1-1/2 hours before the flight. Then the first flight goes to Cincinnati, where I wait 2 hours for the second flight to Kansas City. All in all, I’ll be travelling for 8 hours just to get there. Once I get there, it’s lunch… site visit… dinner… then repeat the flight the next morning.
It used to be that flying was the fast way to get somewhere. Remember? Now, with long drives to far away airports, heavy security, long waits at the airport, and the vaunted hub system, it almost seems like it would be easier to just drive there.
And cheaper.
