I am just bewildered by parents — where in the world do they summon the necessary energy?
For two days here in Austin, I’ve been the recipient of concentrated love energy from iolana and Lily, and I am just exhausted! The energy of a kindergartner and a third grader is boundless, hilarious, and infectious, and I am not only tired, my face muscles are sore from smiling and laughing.
Yesterday they were having a great time keeping secrets, launching a big birthday surprise for me along with Clara and Ava; balloons and cake and the coolest handmade presents, including a t-shirt that everyone signed. They just had a blast putting it all together.
But then, Lily found her cat Grady out by the road in some bushes, lethargic and sick, and the immediate reaction was that she had been hit by a car — cue the car, rushing to the emergency vet, and lots of emotion; happily, she hadn’t been hurt by a car, but was in fact anemic with a skin infection and fleas–she required a blood transfusion last night–this morning she was transferred to the regular vet and she’s now recuperating and expected to be just fine after a round of antibiotics and some continuing treatment.
Business today with Sara — so I can deduct this trip, now–planning for next spring’s big exciting release of her new album! We’ve got some fun ideas that will start showing up in the near future via her websites.
Tonight while Sara was meeting with her caregiving group, io, Lily, Lance and I hung out — Mexican food and a movie, and now I’m back to the Hotel San Jose to rest up for tomorrow when Sara and I venture out to film a little saga of hers to be entitled Clawmaster!
Lily and io will be home from school around 3pm… I’d better bank some energy before then!
